Jihae Jang is an Adjunct Instructor at Idaho State University’s Art Department. She received her BA in Communication Studies from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, her AAS in Fashion Marketing from Parsons School of Design, and most recently her MFA in Painting from Idaho State University. She was born in South Korea and shortly after, immigrated to Manila, Philippines where she spent most of her childhood. She is a visual artist working with oil painting, oil pastels, and textiles, whose work explores the tension in the experience of dual identities both in a cultural context, as well as her role as an artist and a mother. Her current work explores the complexities of motherhood through layered memories, time, and the daily work of a caretaker. She currently lives in Pocatello, Idaho with her husband and her three children.
